Teal and Holo and Shimmer, Oh My!

Afternoon glittery polish lovers! Since today is my Gospel Choir concert and our colors this semester are teal and grey, I'd offer up my teal mani for you guys to enjoy! :D

To begin this simple mani off, I used 2 coats of Sinful Colors Rise and Shine. It's a blue-green teal that  has subtle silver and blue-green micro shimmer, and the polish dries to a somewhat rubbery finish. I'm not a fan though, so I knew I had to change it up a bit.

I got out one of my lemmings. The awesome China Glaze Fairy dust, which is a gorgeous shimmery silver and holo top coat. It was a bit thicker than the spectraflair holo top coat I have, but my the results are stunning. And the holo doesn't look 'dirty' when not in sunlight all the time, for there is silver glitter in there too. I love this! I can't wait to show these babies off on stage :) I give this a 8/10 for glitter and a 9/10 for application.

Veteran's American Flag

Even though Veteran's Day is Nov 11, my college had events today. Since Stockata is a part of Stockton A Cappella, some of us from each group sang. Because we have to wear all black to look professional (along with a glittery scarf of course ;) he he), I knew I had to do my nails for the event. My dad is a veteran of Iraq after! So after a very long time, I made new American Flag nails much better than the ones I did in my first ever blog post here. Enjoy!

I was so happy with these, and EVERYONE loved these. To start this off, I used 3 coats of China Glaze's Glistening Snow from the Holiday 2012 collection with a coat of Seche Vite to smooth it out. I got it for $4 in a box with Angel Wings and oddly enough a shot glass. Well now I have a place to water marble! Anywho, this polish had beautiful snow coverage in the 3 coats, and was a gorgeous silver polish with holo glitter throughout. Just gorgeous!  I blurred it to show the holoness!

Now to make my flags, I taped off part of my nails and used a coat of OPI The Flowers are Blue-Ming, along with a striper brush using Avon Ruby Slipper for the stripes. Then I dabbed on some top coat to make the silver stars stick. Then I finished with some Seche Vite. I'm so proud of these! I'm a total patriot of this country, and I thank our veterans for doing what they do! This is so a 10/10 for glitter people ;)

Some Red Fishnets If You Please

Heyyyyyy glittery ladies! Hope all goes well in the worlds of glitter and polish! Sorry I've been a little postless this week. Camera problems and total swampage! I'm still wearing this mani as well. I need to redo my nails! Anywho, I decided to try some more designs with my striping brush, so I created what I believe to be some red fishnet stockings! 

To start this beauty off, I used 2 coats of Avon's Ruby Slipper that's been newly reformulated. It's an even truer red with silver and dark red micro shimmer! After that dried, I just drew some intersecting lines and bam! Instant red fishnets.  The lady at the polling booth on election day loved my nails and couldn't believe I did them myself or that I spent so long on them. Good to know they love them! This is def a 6/10 for glitter and a 7/10 for application. This is super easy, and I plan to do it again with other colors!

It looks like a red orange without flash eh? Still nice!

Sally Hansen HD Color Swatches Part 1

Afternoon glittery polish lovers! So I realized I have 7 of the SH HD Color polishes they discontinued. You've seen Resolution in my Triforce mani way back when, and now I think it's time to share the rest with you! Let's start this party off!

Here's the first and perhaps my least favorite, 3 coats of Spectrum. I feel like this was the sheerest of the bunch. I could have put on 4 coats, but I just didn't have the time. However, there were pink/blue-green glass flecks in it. Not bad. Seemed like a light blue duochrome effect here.  And a blue-green base to pull it all together. This one may end up in the swap pile.

Here are 3 buttery coats of Hue. Yup. Butter. That's what it reminded me of lol I actually liked this one. It didn't have as much shimmer as the others, but the medium yellow color along with the silver shimmer was nice. This one really showed its brush strokes though!

And here are 3 coats of Laser, my fave of the bunch, with a nice coat of Seche Vite for keeps! I'm still wearing it ;) This one was a very nicely pigmented dark blue with what seemed to be lighter blue and some purple glass flecks. Might even be some red in there! This one also had more of a purply duochrome to it too. This one is for keeps. Definitely!

The World's Fair

Afternoon glittery polish lovers! A little while ago, I got a message from one Delusional Polish, asking me to promote her polish. Well I did! Her indies were so pretty! I of course, had no money because of my car at that point. Well this sweet lady, Jen, who makes Delusional Polish actually sent me a free bottle to review! Can you believe that? My first review polish! And it is gorgeous! Here is World's Fair over Deborah Lippman Pearly Queen :)

Let's get to this glitteriness shall we? To start this delicate glitter mani off, I used 4 (yes 4!) coats of Deborah Lippman's Pearly Queen to reach full opacity. It was so worth it! I got it for just $6 in a blog sale, and I was going to use it in all it's glory! It kinda looks like an Avon polish I have, so dupe post eventually! Anyhow, this polish is just so pearly! It's a shimmery pearl with blue-green duo chrome. Love this! :)

Now to the awesome. I love this stuff. 2 coats of World's Fair. Now I love glitter bombs, but this wasn't a total glitter bomb. This was a delicate sprinkling of glitter that looked gorgeous on my nails. There wasn't too much or too little, it was just right! Worlds Fair went on like a dream. Smooth. It has little green and gold dot glitters, small silver squares, silver diamonds (eeeep diamonds!), and medium blue hexes. This wasn't gritty at all either! It only needed one coat of Seche Vite to be smooth to the touch. I love this. It's gorgeous. It's delicate. I may wear it again in the winter! Jen's polish will definitely be one I will turn to when I finally start getting some extra cash! :) I give this a 9/10 for application and a 8/10 for glitter.

Tape It Up!

Evening glittery polish lovers! So a few days ago, I did my first real tape mani. I say real, because the first time I did one, it was with cheapo polish before I could really apply polish or knew what the heck I was doing. So here's my little mani using Zoya Roxy and Avon Speed Dry Polish in Strawberry!

So to start this off, I borrowed a polish I got my mom for her birthday, since her name is Roxanne. The purple/magenta glittery goodness that is Zoya Roxy. I used 2 coats. The problem I had with this is that it dried matte, so it was drying fast and a bit of a pain to apply. Cleanup was terrible on this. At least my mom likes it! This is as close to real life as I could get the picture to be. To me it's a magenta crelly base with dark purple glitter in it. Seemed like a good idea in the bottle, but not so much on the nail. 

After I let this dry for about 20 minutes (I was too scared to do this any sooner!), I went and put the tape wear I wanted it for the triangles, used one coat of the Avon polish, waited 20 seconds, and ripped the tape off. I bumped a few fingers, but I still like the way it came out. A coat of Seche Vite brought it all together. I can't wait to try another one of these with some different polish! I give this a 8/10 for glitter and a 5/10 for application. This does take patience folks!
