Claire's Magnetix

Hey glittery polish people! Because I like shimmer and shine as well, I tried one of the newest trends out there, magnetic nail polish! I'm not one to spend too much on polish, and Claire's Magnetix in Dark Blue was only $8.50 a bottle and with a giftcard, what a deal!

I took off the magnet and shook the bottle for about 20 seconds to get the metal powder throughout the polish.  Then I put on only one coat with another extra brush of polish just to apply the 'generous amount.'  This polish was thick, so even with careful fingers, it still got on my cuticles. However, this was more than I expected! I held the magnet over the freshly painted nail after I was done for about 20 seconds, just to be safe, and it made a pretty shimmery design on my nail! I was not disappointed at all!

While thick, the brush helped apply the polish mostly evenly. The nice thing about the magnet was that it has a little nub on the bottom to rest on your cuticles, so it's easier to hold the magnet in place/not have it touch your nail. Other polishes do not have this, and it's more difficult to hold the magnet steady. All in all, I give this new trend a 9/10! I hope that in the future some different/more glittery colors can emerge!

Tiger Stripes

So on my way to the bank to deposit some baby sitting money, I thought, well I'll pop by Rite Aid. I discovered that they have nearly every polish made by Sinful Colors. My friend has been wanting me to do tiger stripes, so what an opportunity! I picked up a black striper, an orange, and a glitter polish of course!

Smoking Hot: A fine, white glittery polish; Courtney Orange: A shimmery, darker orange

So first I applied one coat of the orange to all of my nails. I'm sticking with one coat since it's so dark, and I'll be painting the stripes on top.  I'm letting them dry about 20 minutes before I do stripes.  Here's how the color looks on it's own.

Then I made some lines, some long and short, over my nails with the striper. I just did this all random. No fancy stuff here...but something was missing....

So of course I put on a little glitter! I used the Smoking Hot glitter polish, which is very fine glitter polish, to just add a bit of sparkle, being the glittery person I am. Hope you enjoy my tiger stripes!

Essence and Salon Express

So after a lot of frustration and time, I've finally got my post for the day! First off, I wanted to try out one of my new Essence polishes, Choose Me!, by itself, so I put it on. With 2 coats, it was a very glittery blue/green.  Definitely my style :)

Then of course, today I was at Bed Bath and Beyond and found the Salon Express Nail art kit! I was really excited to try it! However, it's a very messy thing the first time you use it. I only let my Choose Me! dry for a half hr before I started stamping, and this was not good. It smeared my Choose Me!  Then I waited a bit longer after reapplying choose me. And I used a splatter kind of design. Here's how it came out.

I used a cheap white polish. Don't use too much, or it will gop up your scraper/image plate too quickly. After experimenting a bit, I actually do think I'll use this again now that I know what I'm doing! More/better nail designs with the Salon Express Nail art kit to come as I grow in experience with it!  For now I say 7.5/10.  Hope to put it to better use!  Good night!

Essence Nail Polish

Hey guys!  Memorial Day picnic today, so I can show off my awesome American flag nails, but no new nails today. :(  However, I do have a few Essence Nail Polishes I picked up at Ulta yesterday! They are only $1, and as you've seen from the red one from yesterday, they go on really well! Check these out! Art from them will be coming after Memorial Day!

American Flag Nails

Welcome! This is my first blog, Glittery and Polished! I hope to share the most glittery and unique polishes I can find, awesome and unique designs that will mostly have glitter or neat ideas, and try all kinds of new polishes!  So enjoy!

Me being the proud American I am, I decided that since Memorial Day was coming up, I had to make an American flag design, glitter included. So somehow I used a few polishes to make this happen!  You can use any white you like, but for the red I used Glamorous Life by Essence and for the blue I used Galaxy by Hot Topic. The stars were made from glitter bought at A.C. Moore.

Now I painted the last 3 fingers on each hand with Galaxy, and then painted the first 2 fingers on each hang with Glamorous Life. Then I painted white stripes on my red fingers with a very small paint brush. I then put top coat on my blue fingers, used tweezers to put the glitter stars on, then put top coat on top of that to seal it in. I may not be a pro at perfect lines yet, but it still came out looking pretty awesome.

So behold, American flag nails! Remember to honor our vets and the fallen this Memorial Day.
